Social Entrepreneurship

Our ongoing project 'Resinnov Blue' is a Social Entrepreneurship model that envisages positive social and economic impact on the livelihoods of the coastal population along with gainful returns to the investors. Indian fisheries sector demonstrates competitive growth with global ranking as 2nd in aquaculture, 3rd in fish production and 4th in exports. However, the socio-economics of the fisher folks deserve attention and betterment. The technological and social divide with inefficient market linkages are among the vital issues that the fishermen communities face globally. Around 43% of fishers of European Union still lives below the national minimum wage, while in India around 67% of fishermen communities lives below the national poverty line, that could be attributed to the supply chain dynamics. Beyond regional factors, the national and international policies and agreements too have implications on the fisheries sector. Trust's social entrepreneurship model project is focused on developing sustainable business practices for the national fisheries sector through application of ICT and IoT for supply chain modifications.
